Apple’s first Apple Retail Store, the Tysons Corner Store in Fairfax, Virginia, opened Friday, May 19, marking the retailer’s 22nd anniversary.
Apple’s new retail store, also located in the shopping center, just moved to a new location, will feature inclusive, innovative and sustainable design enhancements that “reflect Apple’s values.

Apple’s press release reads: “Since opening our first Apple Retail Store here 22 years ago, we’re proud to open this newly conceived space. It’s been a testament to our journey along the way. We couldn’t have done it without the help of our community.

The Apple Apple Store led the way for a new model of offline sales when Apple opened retail stores in Tysons Corner, Virginia, and Glendale, California, on May 19, 2001, to showcase products including computers, software, iPod Walkman and more. Steve Jobs conducted the demonstrations himself.
