According to the latest research released by market research agency ExpressVPN, gamers are increasingly fond of retro games. Under this general trend, game manufacturers have also continuously launched remakes of classic games according to the needs of players in recent years. 79% of gamers say they have played a retro game recently. These “retro” games grew up with Generation X (those born between 1964 and 1980) and millennials (those born in the 1980s and 1990s), so it’s no surprise that they’re gaining traction with players of that age group. And somewhat surprisingly, Gen Z (those born between 1995-2009) also love games made in the 80s and 90s. Thirty-eight percent of respondents cited “nostalgia” as the reason for playing these retro games.
According to the survey report, the five most popular games among players are “Super Mario”, “Tetris”, “Pac-Man”, “Super Mario Kart” and “The Legend of Zelda”.
